Hi, I'm Larry Skuse, a software engineer who enjoys building reliable, foundational software.
Currently, I am a Senior System Software Engineer at NVIDIA where I build the cloud platform that gives thousands of NVIDIA engineers on-demand access to GPU-accelerated compute.Previously, I was a Senior Software Engineer at WH Trading LLC, which is a proprietary trading firm based in Chicago, IL. At WH, I designed and developed HFT systems, building low-latency components that powered trading across many of the world’s top derivatives exchanges. I also led development of the back-office system, handling account management, trade processing, reconciliations, and financial reporting for the entire firm.
You can find my open source contributions and personal projects on GitHub. In the past, I have contributed to large open source projects, like f3d, a minimalist 3D viewer with 4000+ GitHub stars.
Prior to the start of my career, I earned a B.S. with honors in Computer Engineering from Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE). Several years later, I earned a M.S. in Computer Science from Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech).
When I am not working on software, I enjoy being outside. You can often find me running, cycling, golfing, skiing, or in various local rec leagues. I am a Chicago sports fan, an avid reader of both historical fiction and non-fiction, and an amateur travel photographer. You can view some of my favorite travel photography in my Africa, Asia, Europe, North America, and South America photo albums.
